Fact Check: Did Babar Azam Blame Pakistan Army Chief For Pahalgam Attack? Know Truth Behind Viral Post

A social media post said to be posted by Babar Azam on his Instagram story, amid tensions between India and Pakistan, has created a buzz on the internet. The post surprised everyone as popular Pakistani cricketer blamed Pakistan's army chief for the Pahalgam terror attack. The viral post reads:

"As a cricketer, I have always loved playing in India and have considered it my second home. It is unfortunate that my Instagram account is currently banned in India."

I want to make it absolutely clear that cricketers are not involved in the Pahalgam attack. What's happening is the result of dirty politics driven by the Pakistani Army. I won't take names, but everyone knows who truly holds power in Pakistan and who continues to protect and support terrorism," cricketer further said.

Viral Post

"To the Pakistan Army-your actions are making innocent Pakistani citizens suffer. Stop sponsoring terrorism," he added.

The post was surprising for many as the Government has already blocked popular Pakistani Instagram accounts in India, including Babar Azam's Instagram handle.

OneIndia chose to cross-verify the reality of viral Instagram post. With the help of a friend who lives outside India, we checked cricketer Babar Azam's account and story, where no such post was shared. Also, the display pictures on the real account and fake posts were different.

Fake viral post

Hence, we reached to a conclusion that viral post is fake, and Babar Azam did not share any such statement.
