Fact Check: AI generated images shared as Donald Trump being arrested

Former US President Donald Trump said on Saturday that he expects to be arrested by Tuesday.

He also called on his followers to stage a massive protest. The case in question was relating to one of hush money that he allegedly paid an adult film actress before the elections in 2016.

An image has now gone viral showing the 45th president of the United States, Donald Trump being taken away by the police.

Those sharing the image claimed that the police arrested the former president.

"Donald Trump has been arrested downtown Washington DC," read a tweet while sharing the viral image.

The news about Trump being arrested would have been covered world over by all media houses.

While reverse searching the image, OneIndia found that it was created using an Artificial Intelligence tool called Midjourney. We also stumbled on a Twitter account of Eliot Higgins who had shared the same image. He captioned the tweet, " making pictures of Trump getting arrested while waiting for Trump's arrest."

While looking at the comments below the tweet, we learnt that most of the questions asked were about the tool that has been used to create these images.

One user, asked, 'which engine is this?" Another replied by saying, "Midjourney."

Higgins who is a British journalist has also posted many images that were created using Midjourney.

"Here's photos from Vladimir Putin entirely made up war crimes trial," read one tweet. Another read, " Donald Trump's entirely fictional perp walk. I do appreciate that #midjourneyv5 has got the tie length just perfect for Trump."

Midjourney is a tool that uses generative AI to create images from text prompt that is fed by users. The platform has also posted many more images showing Trump getting arrested, which have been created by other users.

Hence, in conclusion, the images being shared about Trump getting arrested are AI generated. These images have gone viral with the fake claim that Trump has been arrested.
