Did Sania Mirza Make Pro-Pakistan Comment Despite Divorce With Shoiab Malik? Fact Checking The Claim
Indian tennis sensation Sania Mirza has been attacked by a section of netizens accusing her of batting for peace amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan.
Did Sania Mirza Really Support Pakistan?
A message with a picture doing rounds on social media has triggered netizens to criticise her. The viral message with the header - Peace has to be everyone's choice - read: "Diplomacy isn't weakness. Peace isn't a luxury. It's the only way forward. Because we've seen what escalation does. From Gaza to Israel. From Pulwama to Pahalgam. From Russia to Ukraine - the grief looks the same. Even when the flags don't."

Responding to the message, a user read: "Diplomacy? Or more like 'cowardice' after doing the most heinous crime of killing innocent hindus. They expect peace and diplomacy. Look, delusional has so many levels and this one's just the beginning. Slowly you will be seeing 'Free Kathm*llahstan' or something. To all those eunuchs, we will find you and we will destroy you."

The second user added: "Sania Mirza has been divorced by a Pakistani for another woman. Yet, she is simping for Pakistan. Shameful."
The third netizen commented: "It is the biggest leverage that Pakistan has over India - its control over these influencers who thrives in India but breathes for Pakistan."

However, we did a Google search to identify the authenticity of the claims and also checked her social media accounts. But we found nothing.
In fact, the message Sania posted about the ongoing tension between India and Pakistan was about two women officers (Vyomika Singh and Sofia Qureshi) of different religions briefing the media.

Hence, the post attributed to Sania is "fake".
Nonetheless, her post on the two women officers is seen as her support for the Indian Army which has not gone well with Pakistanis. She was earlier married to Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Malik. So, she is being attacked by a section of netizens from the neighbouring country.
Ever since India attacked the terrorist bases in Pakistan, there has been a lot of misinformation and fake news being spread on the internet. Hence, readers are advised to cross-check and verify any news that is shared on social media and WhatsApp.
