Why Bachchan Family Is Silent Over Rahul Gandhi's Comment On Aishwarya Rai? Netizens Ask

A section of netizens have come down heavily on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his recent remarks against Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.

Speaking at a public gathering at the Transport Nagar Chowk in Chhattisgarh, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had recently targeted the BJP government over the Ram Mandir inauguration as he questioned why there were not any members of Backward Classes (OBCs) at the event.

"I saw Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai, Ambani, Adani, all the business people, but I did not see a single poor person. Not a single farmer was seen, not one labourer was seen, not one unemployed person was seen," he said.

"...I did not see a farmer there. Not one labourer was seen and not one small shopkeeper was seen. But all the billionaires were seen and there they were giving long speeches to the media. Ambani ji was giving statements...You must have seen," the former Congress chief added.

His mention of Aishwarya has not gone well with the people and questioned why the Bachchans are silent over the issue.

"I hope Aishwarya Rai's family stands up for her against RG's derogatory comment. Her mother-in-law is a member of Parliament, her father-in-law stood up for a random actress's deep fake, and her husband is really good with his words. So surely we will have some support for her?" one user said on X (formerly Twitter).

The second user added, "Why is Rahul Gandhi using such words for Aishwarya Rai so many times? Why no feminist, liberal, truth-to-power journalist is opposing this? Why is her RS MP Sasu maa and larger than life Sasurji not expressing their distaste on this?"

However, it has to be noted that Gandhi has not made any derogatory comments against the Bachchans as accused by netizens rather he only mentioned why the Modi government did not invite any prominent OBC leader.

The third user slammed, "Crowd pulling tactics in the name of a lady "AISHWARYA RAI BACHCHAN" coz he's unable to do it neither in his name, sister's name, mother's name, family's name or his organization. His behavior & the choice of words is the true reflection of his shallow knowledge & vicious Roman upbringing."

"Why is Rahul Gandhi obsessed with Aishwarya Rai?" a netizen said.

Another user added, "Is Rahul Gandhi counting on Gen Z voters for their vote when he names Amitabh Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai? Because only that segment of voters won't know AB's relationship with Gandhi parivar. It was in Bachchan family Sonia lived when she first came to India. It was AB who was sent to fetch Rahul when Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated. They fell apart later but the relationship existed for many decades. For RG to name AB like this is crass and cheap.

Many are also questioning why Aishwarya's mother-in-law and Samajwadi MP Jaya Bachchan has remained silent over the issue. A user commented, "Rahul Gandhi is repeatedly insulting Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in his speeches. This is just because Amitabh and Abhishek Bachchan attended Ram Mandir Pran Pratishtha ceremony. How come Jaya Bachchan has no problem with this?"

Another person added, "It remains to be seen how Jaya Bachchan reacts to this because her party is also associated with INDIA Alliance."
