Dhurandhar, released on December 5, has already crossed ₹600 crore in India and around ₹900 crore worldwide, with the Hindi-only release still drawing viewers, repeat audiences and steady occupancy in key cities several weeks after the initial opening.

The new strategy for Dhurandhar 2 follows internal analysis of regional admissions, where Dhurandhar performed well in cities such as Hyderabad, Chennai and Bengaluru despite no local-language versions, suggesting that a multilingual release could lift both footfalls and overall earnings in those regions.

Dhurandhar is written, directed and co-produced by Aditya Dhar, with Jio Studios and B62 Studios backing the project, and features Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sara Arjun and Rakesh Bedi in key roles.

In Dhurandhar, Ranveer Singh plays Hamza Ali Mazari, also known as Jaskirat Singh Rangi, who is sent into Pakistan to infiltrate a Baloch gang operating in Lyari, with Dhurandhar 2 expected to explore this character’s past as hinted in the closing portions.

According to Sacnilk data, Dhurandhar posted occupancy of 28.75% in Hyderabad, 37.25% in Chennai and 49.25% in Bengaluru, which compares with 30.00% in Mumbai and 33.75% in NCR, supporting the argument for Dhurandhar 2 targeting stronger regional penetration.
