When Will Trailer From Vijay's 'GOAT' Be Released? Finally The Date Revealed

It is official. AGS Entertainment, the makers of Thalapathy Vijay's 'GOAT' (The Greatest of All Time) has finally announced the trailer release date of the upcoming Tamil film.

Announcing the news at 5 pm on Thursday, director Venkat Prabhu, on X, said: "GET . SET . GOat 🔥
Buckle up.. #TheGoatTrailer is landing on your screens on August 17th, 5 PM."

Fans of Vijay have been on tenterhooks for the trailer launch date, which was initially slated to be revealed on Wednesday evening. Producer Archana Kalpathi had teased the announcement, saying, "Trailer Release date update tomorrow at 6:00 pm 🤗❤️ @vp_offl We are all waiting."

However, the announcement was delayed, with Kalpathi later explaining, "I promised a Trailer launch date today. We are still working on bringing the best version to you ❤️🤗 So here is a small treat for those waiting to see our #Thalapathy on screen very soon #ThalapathyFansForever ❤️#GOAT."

AGS Entertainment-funded film is set to be a milestone in Vijay's career as it represents his final film before fully committing to politics. Earlier this year, Vijay launched his political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, with a focus on the 2026 assembly elections.

Director Venkat Prabhu has provided intriguing insights into the film's storyline. GOAT is a fictional narrative, crafted to closely mirror real-life scenarios. The film follows Vijay's character, who leads a specialized team from the SPECIAL ANTI-TERRORIST SQUAD, a unit within RAW (Research and Analysis Wing). The plot centers around a mission from the past that reemerges as a major issue in the present, challenging the team to resolve it.

In a recent interview, Prabhu also shared a touching story about the friendship between Vijay and Ajith Kumar. Prabhu revealed that after Ajith's surgery in March 2024, Vijay visited him and the two stars engaged in a heartfelt conversation. Prabhu described their interaction as very positive and noted the strong camaraderie between them. "They talked very happily and are very good friends," he said, emphasizing their mutual respect.

Ajith Kumar, in turn, has shown great support for GOAT, expressing his high expectations for the film. Ajith reportedly told Prabhu, "GOAT should be 100 times greater than Mankatha," setting a high bar for the film's success.
