‘What's Wrong With Marrying at 60?’: Rakhee Gulzar Defends Aamir Khan Amid Reports Of His 3rd Marriage

Veteran actor Rakhee Gulzar has spoken in support of Aamir Khan, following discussions on his upcoming marriage, with longtime partner Gauri Spratt. On one side, social media users are having a debate if marrying at the age of 60 is okay. Rakhee dismissed such criticism by arguing that, companionship and personal happiness cannot be measured by age.

Recently, in a conversation with Variety India, Rakhee addressed the reactions of social media users on Aamir's reported wedding plans. She questioned why age should be a factor to consider when two people have decided to marry.

"What is wrong with marrying at 60? Robert de Niro has been married twice and is now in a relationship (with partner Tiffany Chen), with whom he shares a daughter born in 2023. They had a child when he was more than 80 years old. Happiness in a marriage is not about age. I got married when Gulzar was almost 40."

Rakhee Praises Aamir's Approach Towards Relationships

Rakhee has not personally worked with Aamir. However, she spoke warmly about his reputation and the way he has navigated personal relationships over the years.

"I am not in touch with the goings-on in the film industry, nor have I worked with Aamir Khan. But I do know he is a very sincere person. And I love the way he has maintained his friendship with his two wives (Reena Dutta and Kiran Rao) even after the marriage. It says a lot about him."

The actor's comments highlight Aamir's quality of his ability to maintain a cordial relationship with both former spouses despite their separations. This quality of Aamir is often acknowledged by his peers and fans alike.

Aamir and Gauri's Relationship

On the occasion of Aamir's 60th birthday, he introduced Gauri Spratt to the media and shared details about their relationship. The actor revealed that the two first met more than two decades ago before reconnecting years later.

"Gauri and I met 25 years ago, and now we are partners. We are very serious and committed to each other. We have been together for a year and a half."

Gauri Spratt belongs from Bengaluru. She is the daughter of salon entrepreneur Rita Spratt. According to reports, the couple has been together for over two years and is now preparing to formalise their relationship.

Aamir Khan's Previous Marriages

If the wedding takes place as reported, it will mark a new chapter in Aamir Khan's personal life. The actor was first married to Reena Dutta in 1986. Their marriage lasted until 2002. The couple share two children, Junaid Khan and Ira Khan.

He later married filmmaker Kiran Rao in 2005. The couple announced their separation in 2021 but since then, they have continued to maintain a close bond and co-parent their son, Azad Rao Khan.
