“We Are The Lawful Owners”: Ramesh Taurani Responds To Vashu Bhagnani’s Chunnari Chunnari Allegations

The legal battle over the recreated version of the song Chunnari Chunnari from Vashu Bhagnani's Pooja Entertainment film Biwi No. 1 has intensified. Ramesh Taurani's Tips Industries and the makers of Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai have finally responded to the allegations levelled against them.

Vashu Bhagnani's Accusation On Violation Of His Property

For those unfamiliar, Bhagnani accused the film's team of violating intellectual property rights by remixing songs associated with his productions. Now, Taurani and the makers have issued a detailed statement dismissing the accusations.

Tips Industries' Response To The Accusation

The team has strongly denied any wrongdoing and alleged that the claims are part of a deliberate attempt to damage the film ahead of its release.

In their statement, the makers said, "Recently, a series of baseless allegations have been made against us by Mr Vashu Bhagnani. It is amply clear to us that this is a smear campaign driven by personal vendetta, intended to derail the release of our film Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai."

Relationship Between Bhagnani And Tips Industries

Taurani recalled the long professional relationship between Tips and Bhagnani, taking everyone back to their 1995 blockbuster Coolie No. 1. According to the team, the collaboration played an important role in Bhagnani's early success in the industry, and they continued to support him over the years out of goodwill and mutual respect.

"It went on to become a massive box office hit and gave Mr Bhagnani a kick-start in the industry. Over the years, we continued to extend our heartfelt support and good wishes to him. It is out of respect for this long-standing relationship that we chose to remain silent until now. However, Mr Bhagnani remains determined to spread misinformation via various platforms, including social media," the statement further read.

Popular Songs Chunnari Chunnari And Ishq Sona Hai Recreated

Directed by David Dhawan, Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai features Varun Dhawan, Pooja Hegde, and Mrunal Thakur. Interestingly, the title of the film itself is inspired by the popular track Ishq Sona Hai from Biwi No. 1. Both Ishq Sona Hai and Chunnari Chunnari have reportedly been recreated for the upcoming project, which has intensified the current dispute.

Bhagnani Filed Complaint In Bihar, 2000 km Away From Mumbai

Bhagnani has already approached the court, claiming that the remixes have affected his intellectual property rights. In response to this legal action, Taurani's team questioned the decision to file a complaint in a court located far from Mumbai.

"Suspiciously, he has also chosen to file a legal complaint in Katihar court in Bihar, over 2000 km away from Mumbai. He decided to take legal action against all associated with our film rather than engage in direct dialogue. We are deeply disheartened and disappointed by Mr Bhagnani's conduct. We urge the public not to pay heed to such targeted negativity. We maintain that we are the absolute and lawful owners of the songs Chunnari Chunnari and Ishq Sona Hai."

"We Have Full Faith In The Legal System," Says Taurani

The makers further stated that since the matter is now under legal consideration, they do not wish to comment beyond this point. Ending the statement, they added, "We have full faith in the legal system of our country and are confident that justice will prevail."

Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai is all set to release in theatres on June 5.
