War 2 Box Office Collection - 4 Days: Hrithik-Starrer Ends First Weekend On Solid Note

Hrithik Roshan and Junior NTR's much-hyped action spectacle War 2 has completed its opening weekend at the India box office on a solid note. Backed by Yash Raj Films as part of its spy universe, the film carried sky-high expectations before release, especially with the pan-India casting of Hrithik Roshan and Telugu superstar Junior NTR. Despite opening to mixed reviews, the film has managed to sustain well enough over its four-day extended weekend.

War 2 began its run with a strong opening on Thursday, collecting ₹52 crore nationwide. The Hindi version contributed ₹29 crore, while the Telugu release fetched an impressive ₹22.75 crore, and the Tamil version managed ₹25 lakh, as per Sacnilk data.

On Friday, the film picked up momentum and saw its best single-day performance of the weekend, grossing ₹57.35 crore, with the Hindi version alone accounting for ₹44.5 crore. However, Saturday brought a noticeable dip in collections as the film earned ₹33.25 crore, led by ₹26 crore from Hindi and ₹6.95 crore from Telugu. On Sunday, the film settled at an estimated ₹31 crore, closing its first four days with a robust total of ₹173.60 crore at the India box office.

Occupancy trends for the Hindi version provide deeper insights into the film's weekend performance. On Sunday, War 2 recorded an overall 33.09 percent occupancy for Hindi shows across India. Morning shows began on a softer note with 16.24 percent occupancy, but business surged in the afternoon to 39.46 percent and peaked during the evening with 47.53 percent. Night shows, however, slowed down to 29.14 percent, indicating a typical weekend pattern where family audiences preferred afternoon and evening screenings.

Region-wise data reflects a mixed yet encouraging performance. In the Hindi belt, NCR saw an overall 30.75 percent occupancy across more than 1,300 shows, while Mumbai stood slightly lower at 26.75 percent. Pune followed a similar trend at 25.5 percent. On the other hand, Tier-2 cities like Jaipur and Lucknow posted healthier numbers at 36.75 percent, showing solid local pull.

Hyderabad emerged as one of the film's strongest territories outside the Hindi heartland, with 59.25 percent occupancy, while Bengaluru performed decently at 50 percent. Chennai, although a smaller market for Hindi films, surprised with excellent turnout at nearly 80 percent occupancy, driven largely by Junior NTR's fanbase. Kolkata registered 38.5 percent, while Ahmedabad and Surat hovered around the 30 percent range.

Will War 2 Enter Rs 200-Crore Club Today?

The trajectory over the four days reveals that while War 2 had a powerful start, the sharp drop from Friday to Saturday suggests that word-of-mouth was mixed. Nonetheless, the film's pan-India appeal, particularly in the South, has helped cushion the decline. With ₹173.60 crore already collected in four days, the film has crossed the ₹150 crore benchmark comfortably and is now aiming at ₹200 crore within its first week.

Considering its scale and the popularity of its lead actors, War 2 has lived up to the hype commercially, if not critically. The real test will begin with weekday collections, which will determine whether the film can sustain its momentum beyond the initial frenzy.

As of now, the Hrithik-NTR starrer stands as a strong box office performer, proving once again the power of multi-star action blockbusters in India's evolving theatrical market.
