Viduthalai Part 2 OTT Release Update: Vijay Sethupathi's Film Gets Bigger & Better For Digital Debut

Netizens have been eagerly awaiting the OTT release of Vijay Sethupathi's hit movie Viduthalai Part 2. Now, there is a good news around its digital release.

As per director Vetrimaaran, Vidhuthalai Part 2 will be bigger and better in the digital version. Yes, the movie will have an extended run time. "The extended version, with an additional hour, will be available on OTT. In the US, we added an extra eight minutes as last-minute edits had trimmed the theatrical cut. Combining both parts, the total footage spans nearly eight hours," he said in an interview.

Vijay Sethupathi's commanding performance in Viduthalai Part 2 has garnered widespread acclaim from audiences. Directed by the master storyteller Vetrimaaran, the film hit theaters on December 20, 2024.

When Will Viduthalai Part 2 Be Released?

While the official OTT release date remains unconfirmed, the film is anticipated to stream on ZEE5 by mid-January 2025, with reports pointing to January 17 as the likely date.

The narrative of Viduthalai Part 2 delves into the life of Perumal Vaathiyar (Vijay Sethupathi), who is apprehended by the police. Through flashbacks, we see his evolution from a humble teacher to a revolutionary leader inspired by communist ideologies. The movie features a stellar ensemble cast, including Soori as Kumaresan, Manju Warrier as Mahalakshmi, Kishore as KK (Perumal's mentor), and Bhavani Sre as Tamilarasi, Kumaresan's love interest.

Adding to its cinematic brilliance is the soulful music composed by the legendary Ilaiyaraaja. Initially conceptualized as a single film, Viduthalai was split into two parts to preserve its depth and narrative complexity. The first installment premiered on March 31, 2023, following the completion of filming in November 2022. Production for the second part resumed in July 2024.

The movie has earned over Rs 40 crore at the Tamil Nadu box office.
