Vaa Vaathiyaar OTT Release Date Is Official: Karthi's Film To Be Out Online In Just 12 Hours

Karthi's Pongal release Vaa Vaathiyaar has had a bit of a rollercoaster run. The film, loved by critics for its quirky story and solid performances (especially from Rajkiran and Karthi), kicked off okay at the box office but couldn't keep the momentum going.

As the business slowed down, it was reported that the movie might have an early digital release. Well, the movie will hit online in a matter of 12 hours.

The Tamil movie will be available in five languages - Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam. Vaa Vaathiyaar is expected to be out after 12 am. It means the movie will release in less than 12 hours which will make the fans of Karthi happy.

However, there's been some drama over its digital release. The OTT rights were snapped up by Amazon Prime Video, but the plan hit a major roadblock. A legal tussle at the Madras High Court over some hefty unpaid dues (reportedly over ₹21 crore) put a stay on the digital release, leaving fans hanging.

It opened with a decent ₹1.65 crore, saw a good jump on day two, but then the numbers started dipping each day after. It wrapped its first week with about ₹8.45 crore net in India-not a disaster for its niche style, but definitely not the goldmine some hoped for.
