Thug Life Box Office Collection: Kamal Haasan-Starrer Fails To Set BO On Fire In First Weekend

Thug Life 4 Day Box Office Collection: Kamal Haasan's Thug Life has failed to set the box office on fire after opening to mixed reviews on June 5.

On the release day, the movie got to a good start in India by earning a net collection of Rs 15.5 crore on Thursday. While the Tamil version contributed Rs 13.55 crore, the Telugu version collected Rs 1.5 crore.

The Mani Ratnam-directorial film had failed to release in Karnataka over Kamal Haasan's "Kannada born out of Tamil" remark. Hence, the movie is predicted to have lost a decent amount from this region.

Day Wise Box Office Collection

On the second day, the business dropped to Rs 7.15 crore with the Tamil version raking in Rs 6.35 crore and the Telugu version contributing about Rs 50 lakh. The collection slightly increased on its third day as it made Rs 7.75 crore.

The Tamil version collected Rs 7 crore while the Hindi and the Telugu version contributed about Rs 75 lakh.

The early estimates coming from trade claim that the movie has made around Rs 6.5 crore on its fourth day (Sunday). Considering it is a holiday, the business should have been a lot better. Unfortunately, the mixed response seems to have played a spoilsport, say trade trackers.

Sunday Occupancy In Theatres

The movie enjoyed around 43.50% occupancy rate in Chennai from 807 shows. In Madurai, it had 24.50% occupancy from 285 shows followed by Madurai (27.50% from 148 shows), Salem (26.75% from 74 shows) and Vellore (25.00% from 52 shows).

Outside Tamil Nadu, Thug Life has 7.75% from 96 shows in Trivandrum, 14.00% from 91 shows in Kochi, 30.00% from 62 shows in Pondicherry and 17.00% from 56 shows in Mumbai.

In four days, Kamal Haasan-starrer has made a net business of Rs 36.90 crore in India.

Funded jointly by Raaj Kamal Films and Madras Talkies, the movie has Silambarasan, Trisha Krishnan, Abhirami and Aishwarya Lekshmi in the key roles.
