Thudarum OTT Release Date: When Will Mohanlal's Malayalam Film Have Its Digital Release?

After L2: Empuraan, Mohanlal has delivered one more hit movie in the form of Thudarum which hit the screens, last week.

Thudarum Rocks At Box Office

On its seventh day, the movie has managed to do well at the Kerala box office. Thudarum has an overall occupancy of 61.37% on Friday. The morning shows had 37.23%, and it jumped to 59.88% for afternoon shows. The evening shows had 71.15% occupancy, and it peaked at 77.21% for night shows which tells the craze around the movie.

In seven days, the film has collected Rs 51.40 Cr at the India box office (nett). However, the movie has minted over Rs 100 crore at the worldwide box office.

Mohanlal on Friday took to X (formerly Twitter) to announce that his latest film, Thudarum, has crossed the ₹100 crore mark in just six days since its release. The veteran actor also celebrated the success of his 2025 releases with members of the AKMFCWA State Committee, sharing pictures from the event on social media. The film is now on track to surpass ₹150 crore worldwide.

Produced on a budget of ₹28 crore, Thudarum marks a strong comeback for Mohanlal after a tough 2024, where both his releases underperformed. His directorial debut, Barroz 3D - Guardian of Treasures, made on a staggering ₹150 crore budget, recovered only 10% of its costs during its theatrical run.

While Amazon Prime Video-which previously acquired Empuraan (the Lucifer sequel) for a reported ₹60 crore. Jio Hotstar has secured Thudarum's digital rights. The deal was finalized at a much lower price. Industry insiders suggest that the OTT market for Mohanlal's films has cooled off since his last major hit, Neru (December 2023).

With the movie doing well at the box office, the movie is expected to release on May 23 or May 30. However, an official announcement awaited.
