The series chronicles the life and reign of Queen Elizabeth II from her wedding in 1947 to the early 21st century.

Anticipated to transpire between 1997 and 2005, the sixth season is poised to portray significant events such as the premiership of Tony Blair, the passing of Diana, Princess of Wales, the nuptials of Prince Edward and Sophie Rhys-Jones, the demises of Princess Margaret and Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, the initial phases of Prince William and Kate Middleton's relationship, and the wedding of Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles.
