Thalaivar 171: Rajinikanth Shines In Handcuffed Avatar For Lokesh Kanagaraj's Film; Title To Be Announced Soon

Director Lokesh Kanagaraj gave fans a sneak peek into his upcoming film with Rajinikanth by unveiling the actor's stylish first look. In a fresh poster for the yet-to-be-named Thalaivar 171, Rajinikanth exudes charisma.

The title announcement is around the corner, with Lokesh revealing that the film's title will be disclosed on April 22.

Sharing the poster, he wrote, "Thalaivar 171 title reveal on April 22." The poster showcases Rajinikanth in a rugged yet stylish avatar, sporting handcuffs made of gold watches and donning gold sunglasses. The background of the poster features mechanical parts resembling the inside of a watch.

Following the release of Rajinikanth's look, fans immediately began speculating about the film. Some fans speculated that the significance of the gold watches, pondering if Suriya's character Rolex will make an appearance. While the filmmakers haven't confirmed this, the poster hints at themes related to time and gold in the film. The pre-production of the film is underway, with shooting scheduled to commence later this year.

"Thalaivar 171" marks Rajinikanth's first collaboration with Lokesh. The film, produced by Sun Pictures, was announced in September last year. While Sivakarthikeyan is rumored to play a pivotal role, the rest of the cast and crew are yet to be announced. It is expected that the full team will be unveiled along with the title. However, composer Anirudh Ravichander and stunt director duo Anbariv have already been confirmed, as per the new poster.

Rajinikanth was last seen in his daughter Aishwarya's directorial Lal Salaam earlier this year. He is currently filming Vettaiyan with director TJ Gnanavel, which also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, and Rana Daggubati. Following the highly successful 2022 film Vikram with Kamal Haasan, Lokesh directed the 2023 film Leo with Vijay. He recently made his acting debut in Shruti Haasan's song "Inimel." Apart from the film with Rajinikanth, Lokesh also has Kaithi 2 with Karthi lined up.
