Thalaivan Thalaivii Movie Review: What's Good, What's Bad In Vijay Sethupathi Film?

After below-average performers like Viduthalai Part 2 and Ace, Vijay Sethupathi is back with his latest outing Thalaivan Thalaivii, He has teamed up with Pandiraj who is known for movies such as Pasanga and Kadaikutty Singam.

The movie has Nithya Menen playing the female lead. Yogi Babu, Roshini Haripriyan, Deepa Shankar, Myna Nandhini, Saravanan, RK Suresh, Kaali Venkat, Sendryan and others in the cast.

The film has Santhosh Narayanan's music, M Sukumar's cinematography and Pradeep E. Ragav's editing.

Story:

Agasaveeran (Vijay Sethupathi), who runs a modest tiffin center with his family, finds happiness when he marries Arasi, also known as Perarasi (Nithya Menen). Their married life begins on a sweet note, but harmony soon gives way to constant friction as the couple starts bickering over petty and often absurd issues. What begins as harmless quarrels gradually snowballs into a three-month separation and eventually a divorce petition.

Just when things seem irreparable, an unexpected incident jolts Agasaveeran, turning their personal differences into a larger family crisis. What sparks their endless arguments? What is the incident that shifts the course of their relationship? Will they find their way back to each other or go their separate ways? The film unfolds around these pivotal questions, blending emotion, humor, and drama.

The story of Thalaivan Thalaivii is about a romance between a strong-willed couple. The love, conflict and turbulence form the emotional journey.

Siddarth Srinivas: #ThalaivanThalaivii Interval: Crazy and erratic so far. Takes 15 minutes to pick up, but from there - VJS and Nitya Menen pair take over and make it very entertaining. The wedding sequence and the hotel scenes are funmaxx, the tempo is maintained well by Pandiraaj and SaNa!

Laughed at a lot of places, smiled at some, felt frustrated during a couple of stretches, got emotional at exactly one moment, and rolled my eyes at whatever was left.

Basically, it is very much brand Pandiraaj, and has an OTT #VijaySethupathi and #NithyaMenen figuring out things in a battle of the sexes that tells less about them, and more about the people around them.

#VijaySethupathi in full form owning every scene with his antics and trademark humour (reminds me of his Idharkuthane Aasaipattai Balakumara days). The first 20 mins with him is an absolute riot. His screen presence and comic sense are too good. 😂

#NithyaMenen is adorable wnd commands a lovely screen presence. They share a great chemistry.

Director #Pandiraaj returns to form in style, exploring a rural entertainer with simple characters and conflicts between two families (something every family can relate) with plenty of laughs. The family audience will lap this film up. 👍

Also, a treat for food lovers.
