Tenzing Norgay Biopic In Works, Casting Tom Hiddleston And Willem Dafoe

A new movie is in the works that plans to tell the story of Tenzing Norgay, one of the first two people to reach the top of Mount Everest. The film is being produced by See-Saw Films and plans to cast actors like Tom Hiddleston and Willem Dafoe.

See-Saw Films is a well-established film and television production company that has worked on popular shows like Heartstopper, as well as produced films like Lion, Mr. Holmes, and The Power Of The Dog.

According to Variety magazine, they will be producing the film on Tenzing's journey, but the director who'll be working on the film is Jennifer Peedom, who has worked on several films before, including a documentary on Sherpa life simply titled 'Sherpa'. Jennifer Peedom has exclusive rights to tell Tenzing's story due to her close bond with the Sherpa community.

As Variety also reported, the film will cast Tom Hiddleston as Edmund Hillary who, with the help of Tenzing Norgay, was also one of the first people to reach the top of Mount Everest. People will recognize Hiddleston's name from his notorious role as 'Loki' from the MCU.

Willem Dafoe will also be cast in the film, taking the role of the English Expedition Leader, Colonel John Hunt. Dafoe has also played roles in Marvel movies like 'Green Goblin' in Sam Raimi's Spider Man films, as well as other non-superhero titles like 'The Lighthouse'.

Most of the details regarding the film, like any release date or the casting choice for Norgay himself, are unknown. There is also the question of how accurate Tenzing's backstory will be since there seem to be different historical accounts depending on the source.
