Tamil TV Actress Devi Priya Survives Highway Crash; Driver Killed

A tragic accident on the Chennai-Tiruchy National Highway near Perambalur claimed the life of Tamil television actress Devi Priya's driver, while the actress herself escaped unharmed.

The incident occurred when the vehicle suffered a tyre burst, according to a report in DTNext.

According to eyewitness accounts, the driver, Muthu Ganesh, was attempting to replace the damaged tyre when another car, traveling at high speed, rammed into Priya's vehicle. The impact proved fatal for Ganesh, who died instantly. Devi Priya was fortunate to emerge without injuries, though her assistant, Divakar, sustained wounds and is currently receiving treatment in hospital.

Districts such as Coimbatore, Chengalpattu, and Madurai reported the highest casualty figures, with Coimbatore alone recording 772 deaths up to September 2023.
