Tamil Director Put Rod Into Genitals For Entertainment: Actress Sowmya's Big Allegations

The sexual assault allegations sparked by the release of the Hema Committee report in Kerala have now spread to Tamil Nadu, with veteran actress Sowmya accusing a Tamil director of mental, physical, and sexual abuse.

In an interview with NDTV, Sowmya revealed that a Tamil filmmaker groomed her as a "sex slave" but has refrained from publicly naming him. She assured that she would disclose his identity to the special investigative team formed by the Kerala government, which is currently probing multiple sexual assault cases in the Malayalam film industry.

"I was 18, in my first year of college, and came from a sheltered background. My parents knew nothing about the film industry," Sowmya shared. She explained that she received an opportunity to act in a Tamil film through a college theatre contact, unaware of the dangers she would face. "I idolized Revathy, the actress who lived near my home, and I was lost in a fantasy world. So, I went for a screen test with this couple," she said.

Sowmya described how she was coerced into continuing with the project under the pretext that the director had spent money on her screen test. "Initially, he didn't speak to me during outdoor shoots. His wife was supposed to direct the film, but that was just on paper. In reality, he was directing everything," she explained. Sowmya also mentioned that the director had been accused of raping his daughter, a revelation that further unsettled her.

Recalling the manipulation she endured, Sowmya said the director and his wife lured her in with kindness, bribing her with food and compliments. "That was the grooming process. He knew exactly what he was doing," she said. One day, when his wife wasn't present, the director made his first inappropriate advance by kissing her while calling her his "daughter." "I froze. I wanted to tell my friends, but I felt ashamed, thinking I had done something wrong," she admitted.

The abuse escalated, with the director forcing himself on Sowmya over time. "He completely used my body to his advantage, and eventually, he raped me. This continued for almost a year while I was still in college," she recounted. During this period, the director repeatedly referred to her as his "daughter" while disturbingly expressing a desire to have a child with her. "He messed with my mind," she said, adding that it took her 30 years to heal from the trauma.

She also claimed that the man had put a rod into her genitals for entertainment.

Sowmya urged survivors to come forward and report abuse, emphasizing the importance of breaking the silence.

These revelations come amid a wave of sexual assault allegations against prominent figures in the Malayalam film industry, including actor and MLA Mukesh, following the release of the Justice Hema Committee report. Multiple cases have been filed against top actors and directors in connection with these accusations.
