Tamannaah Bhatia Blames Insta Algorithm Glitch for Liking Deepika’s Video, Just Like Virat Kohli

Amid the ongoing controversy involving Deepika Padukone and filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga over the film Spirit, actor Tamannaah Bhatia appeared to lend silent support to Deepika-at least briefly. She liked a powerful Instagram reel spotlighting issues women routinely face in the industry, including the gender pay gap, unprofessional work environments, and misogyny.

A Throwback with a Message
The reel in question featured a clip from Deepika's 2020 Chhapaak press conference, where she shut down a reporter who asked whether her husband Ranveer Singh financed the film. "Excuse me, yeh mere khud ke paise hain. Kisne bola yeh? (Who said this to you? This is my money)," Deepika had said, visibly irked.

Overlayed with bold text like "Propaganda she's not falling for: Disrespect, sexism, gender pay gap, unprofessionalism, misogyny," the video struck a chord with many, especially at a time when Deepika is under scrutiny.

The Spirit of the Matter

Deepika's exit from Spirit has sparked headlines, with some reports accusing her of making "unprofessional demands." Sources claimed she insisted on working no more than six hours a day and sought additional pay if filming exceeded 100 days.

Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga responded indirectly via X, hinting that details about the film's plot had been leaked-potentially by Deepika's camp. The situation quickly snowballed, feeding into a wider conversation about working conditions for women in film.

Tamannaah Clarifies Her 'Support'
Shortly after her 'like' made waves online, Tamannaah took to Instagram Stories to clarify that she hadn't liked the reel intentionally. Sharing a selfie with an eye-roll, she wrote, "Can Instagram pls figure out how it likes pages on its own, cause random people are making it news and I have work to do."

Her explanation echoes a similar incident involving cricketer Virat Kohli, who also recently claimed Instagram auto-liked a post without his knowledge.

What's Next for Tamannaah?
The actor was last seen in Odela 2, a supernatural thriller where she played Shiva Shakthi, a sadhvi battling dark forces in a village protected by the deity Odela Mallanna Swamy. The film diverged from the crime theme of its predecessor Odela Railway Station, diving into mystical territory alongside co-star Hebah Patel.
