Sushant Singh Rajput Death Case: Mumbai Court Issues Notice To Rhea Chakraborty Over CBI Closure Report

A Mumbai Magistrate court has notified Bollywood actress Rhea Chakraborty regarding the closure report filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the Sushant Singh Rajput death case. This notice is a procedural step, allowing the complainant to object to the CBI's decision to end the investigation.

The CBI concluded its investigation in March 2025, declaring the case closed after a thorough inquiry. During a recent court session, Magistrate RD Chavan instructed that a notice be sent to the "original informant/victim/aggrieved person." Further proceedings are on hold until this notice is officially delivered. Rhea must respond by August 12.

Rhea's Initial Complaint

Rhea Chakraborty initially lodged a complaint against Sushant Singh Rajput's sisters—Priyanka Singh and Meetu Singh—and Dr. Tarun Nathu Ram. She accused them of facilitating the procurement of prescription drugs for Sushant without proper medical oversight. Her complaint led to an FIR under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

In her complaint, Rhea mentioned that Sushant was diagnosed with bipolar disorder but often stopped his medication. She expressed concern over his sister coordinating medication acquisition through text messages despite his unstable mental health.

Investigation and Legal Proceedings

Sushant Singh Rajput was discovered dead at his Bandra apartment in Mumbai on June 14, 2020. After extensive national attention and legal proceedings, authorities confirmed it was a suicide case. During the investigation, Rhea faced intense scrutiny and was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) for allegedly procuring drugs for Sushant, spending a month in judicial custody.

Professionally, Rhea took a break from work but returned in April 2023 with MTV Roadies Season 19 as one of the gang leaders. She continues in this role in the current season of the adventure reality show.

Current Endeavours

On the film front, Rhea last appeared in Chehre, a mystery thriller released in 2021 alongside Amitabh Bachchan and Emraan Hashmi. Beyond acting, she and her brother Showik Chakraborty have ventured into fashion with their clothing line called Chapter 2.
