Sunita Ahuja On Infidelity, Her Equation With Husband Govinda: 'Gali-Galoch Is Part Of Our Conversation'

Govinda's wife, Sunita Ahuja, is well known for her candid and straightforward nature. In a recent interview, she opened up about her relationship with her husband, revealing that they often engage in playful arguments. Sunita also shared her thoughts on infidelity within marriages.

In a conversation with Hauterrfly, Sunita discussed various aspects of her bond with Govinda, including the highs and lows they have experienced together.

She said, "I still don't feel like we are husband and wife. I still address him as 'Abbe' and he also addresses me the same way. That's how we talk to each other. Gali-galoch is a part of our conversation... I sometimes ask him 'are you my husband? I still can't believe you are my husband."

Sunita also shared her views on men cheating on their wives, stating, "I would like to fold my hands and tell women that don't ever say that your partner is innocent (doesn't cheat). If he does it, it will become so bad and no matter how hard you try to get rid of her, she won't leave him for years. Even if you leave him, that woman won't."

In a 1990 interview with Stardust, Govinda revealed that he had broken off his engagement with Sunita because he wanted to marry Neelam, explaining, "I asked Sunita to leave me. I broke off my engagement with her. And had Sunita not called me after five days and coaxed me into it again, I would probably have married Neelam."

During the interview, Sunita also reflected on their relationship, admitting that they have gone through many ups and downs over the past 40 years. She emphasised that, despite everything, she endured it all.

Her daughter Tina, who was present during the interview, referred to her mother as an intense lover, stating that Sunita has a deep love for Govinda.

About the couple

Sunita married Govinda on 11 March 1987. She is the sister-in-law of Govinda's uncle Anand Singh, who worked as an assistant to director Hrishikesh Mukherjee. The couple has two children together: daughter Tina Ahuja, who made her Hindi film debut with Second Hand Husband (2015), and son Yashvardhan.

They also had an eldest daughter who was born prematurely and sadly passed away when she was four months old.
