Sumalatha's Grandson Naming Ceremony: Will Darshan Attend The Event To End 'Rift' Rumours?

Today marks a special occasion at the Bengaluru residence of actress and former MP Sumalatha, as her family gathers for the naming ceremony of her newborn grandson. The baby boy, born to Sumalatha's son Abhishek Ambarish and daughter-in-law Aviva Biddappa, will be officially named in a traditional ceremony. However, people are curious to know whether Challenging Star Darshan will attend the event amid rumours of the strained relationship with Ambi family.

Will Darshan Attend Abhishek Ambareesh's Baby Naming Ceremony?

Speculation about a rift between Darshan and Sumalatha began when the actor unfollowed her and her son Abhishek on Instagram. As rumours of rift spread, Sumalatha came up with a series of cryptic posts on her social media pages, one of which read, "And the Oscar for best acting goes to... those who twist the truth, hurt people without remorse, shift the blame, and somehow still see themselves as the hero." While Sumalatha later clarified that her post was a general observation and not directed at anyone specific, the timing of her message fueled rumors of tension between the two.

Time and again, Sumalatha had spoken about Darshan's importance in her family and even claimed that no auspicious event in their household will take place without his presence. As a result, people are eagerly looking forward to see whether the Roberrt star will grace the baby-naming ceremony of Abhishek Ambareesh.

If Darshan fails to turn up, it could further fuel speculation about a soured relationship with Sumalatha. It may be recalled that Darshan has always been part of family function of Sumalatha. In fact, he had stood like a pillar of her strength during political campaigns.

Darshan Busy With Devil Shoot In Mysuru

Currently, Darshan is busy with the shooting of his upcoming Kannada film Devil in Mysuru. However, he always made sure to attend the family functions of Sumalatha earlier.

What Went Wrong Between Sumalatha-Darshan?

Notably, Sumalatha did not visit Darshan when he was jailed in connection with the Renuka Swamy murder case. While some attributed this to political reasons, others claimed that Darshan himself had advised her against visiting. Nonetheless, she had refused to criticise him over the Renuka Swamy murder case.

After coming out out jail in November, Darshan has kept a low profile, limiting his interactions to a close circle of family and friends. Interestingly, Dhanveer, Rachita Ram, and Rakshita Prem were the only three people from film industry who attended Darshan's party and Sumalatha was apparently not invited.

Despite the rumors, Sumalatha has dismissed any talk of a rift, stating that Darshan's decision to unfollow her on social media was a personal choice that should be respected. She also denied that her Instagram posts were aimed at him, calling the controversy unnecessary.
