Sumalatha Used Darshan’s Star Power For Elections, Now Silent On Renuka Swamy Murder: Chetan
Kannada actor and activist Chetan Kumar has come down heavily on film industry in general and former Mandya MP Sumalatha in specific for failing to condemn Darshan in the murder case of Renuka Swamy.
In a post on X, she said that the majority of personalities from the Kannada film industry is mum on "Darshan fiasco" even after weeks. She then questioned the silence of Sumalatha Ambarish.

He wrote, "Sumalatha Ambarish, who used Darshan's star power for her electoral benefit in 2019 LS, had called him her 'older son'. What does Sumalatha have to say about her son's happenings?-Escapism shud not be an option."
Darshan had campaigned for Sumalatha in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections in Mandya. Even during the assembly polls, he had put her weight behind her.
As Sumalatha decided to step back in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, making way for HD Kumaraswamy to contest from Mandya, Darshan campaigned for the Congress candidate.
Renuka Swamy was kidnapped and allegedly murdered by the aides of Darshan for sending obscene messages to the actor's friend Pavithra Gowda.
Meanwhile, Chetan has criticised Upendra after he asked the investigating officers to share the evidence collected by the cops to make it official. He has shared a post in which he has batted for the adoption of embracing technology to record the evidence and share it with the concerned family and people to have transparency.
Responding to Uppi's comments, Chetan said, "Upendra reveals his trademark ignorance w/ Darshan fiasco. He wants police to officially share video documents & evidence of case to public. Such police action wud be Constitutional violation of accused's privacy. Entertainment rather than human rights is Upendra's modus operandi."
