Sitaare Zameen Par OTT Release: Did Aamir Khan Reject ₹120 Cr Streaming Rights Deal With Amazon Prime Video?

In an era where OTT platforms are booming, Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan appears to be taking a bold stand. Amid growing speculation about him turning down streaming deals, a new report suggests that Khan rejected a ₹120 crore OTT offer from Amazon Prime Video for his upcoming film Sitaare Zameen Par.

Sitaare Zameen Par OTT Release Did Aamir Khan Reject 120 Cr Streaming Rights Deal With Amazon Prime Video

A ₹120 Crore Deal Declined?

As per trade analyst Komal Nahta, Aamir Khan has turned down the massive deal to maintain a strict theatrical window of at least eight weeks. The aim? To bring audiences back to cinema halls. "The idea is to make people choose the big screen experience again by not giving them the home-viewing option so soon," a source told News18.

Aamir Confirms He's Not in a Rush for OTT

Speaking to the New Indian Express, Aamir himself hinted that the news may indeed be true. "A lot of offers and proposals have come my way, but I have said no to everyone," he revealed.

His priority, he says, is the revival of India's theatre business, which has been struggling post-pandemic and amidst the rise of OTT content. "Theatres are very much alive; we just need to make good films and build more screens," Aamir said. He also pointed out that countries with smaller populations have more cinema screens than India, the most populous country in the world.

Sitaare Zameen Par Release Date & Details

Sitaare Zameen Par, directed by RS Prasanna, marks Aamir Khan's comeback after the lukewarm response to Laal Singh Chaddha. The film also marks the return of Genelia D'Souza Deshmukh to Hindi cinema. The movie is scheduled for a theatrical release on June 20, 2025, and will remain a theatre-exclusive release for now.

While there have been rumours of an OTT release after the theatrical run, Aamir Khan has brushed them off as premature. Currently, the film is not confirmed for streaming on any OTT platform, including Amazon Prime Video.
