Shah Rukh Khan Waived ₹42 Lakh DCP Fee for Deool Band 2, Director Pravin Tarde Reveals

Stories about Shah Rukh Khan's generosity often make headlines, and now Marathi filmmaker Pravin Tarde has shared another example. Tarde's film, Deool Band 2, is currently performing exceptionally well at the box office. It has crossed ₹80 crore worldwide and become the fourth highest-grossing Marathi film of all time. Reacting to the film's success, Tarde credited Shah Rukh Khan's support during a critical moment.

The Budget Exceeded

Recently, in a conversation, Tarde recalled approaching Shah Rukh Khan's production company, Red Chillies Entertainment, for a Digital Cinema Package (DCP).

Initially, the makers had set aside ₹12 lakh for the DCP. However, the final cost turned out to be ₹42 lakh, which was far beyond their budget. At that point, the team simply did not have enough money to pay the required amount.

A Request for Help

Tarde reached out to Red Chillies Entertainment and explained his financial situation. He told them that Deool Band 2 was a regional Marathi film operating on a limited budget and requested their support in making the film's release possible.

The makers were unable to clear the pending dues even after the DCP was completed. As a result, they could not receive the final package needed for theatrical screenings.

The Matter Eventually Reached Shah Rukh Khan

Later, the issue reached Shah Rukh Khan himself. The superstar reportedly asked his technical team about the project. He learned that it came from the makers of Mulshi Pattern, a Marathi film that was later remade as Antim, starring Salman Khan.

SRK's team also informed him that Deool Band 2 was a well-made emotional film, but the producers were struggling to pay for the DCP despite it being ready.

SRK's Decision Changed Everything

Tarde revealed that once Shah Rukh understood the situation, he instructed his team to waive the payment. The filmmaker said SRK's response was simple: "It's a Marathi film. Give them the DCP. We can sort out the payments later. If it's a good film, give them the DCP."

The director said the gesture showed immense respect for Marathi cinema. According to him, Shah Rukh valued the film and its potential more than the money involved.

Tarde added that the film is now moving towards the ₹100-crore club and receiving praise from audiences. He said, "He helped us without any guarantee of success. I will forever be grateful to him."

Deool Band 2

Deool Band 2 stars Mohan Joshi and Snehal Tarde in lead roles. The supporting cast includes Mangesh Desai, Sanskruti Balgude, Devendra Gaikwad, Savita Malpekar, and Pravin Tarde.

The film serves as a sequel to the 2015 Marathi movie Deool Band. It explores sensitive social issues, including farmer suicides and the clash between faith and atheism.
