Hitec City Railway Station Nears Completion With Lifts, Escalators And Modern Passenger Facilities

Hyderabad's Hitec City Railway Station is set to get a major facelift as redevelopment work under the Railway Ministry's Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS) enters its final phase. South Central Railway officials are fast-tracking the remaining works, with the upgraded station expected to be opened to the public in the coming days.

Modern Infrastructure Takes Shape

The station, which serves Hyderabad's bustling IT corridor, has undergone extensive redevelopment aimed at improving passenger comfort, accessibility and overall travel experience. Railway authorities stated that most civil construction and passenger amenity works have already been completed.

The project has been executed in two phases at an estimated cost of Rs 35.61 crore. Hitec City Railway Station caters to nearly 6,000 passengers every day and is served by more than 60 MMTS and suburban train services. Passenger footfall typically rises during weekends due to increased travel demand in the area.

Enhanced Facilities For Commuters

Several new facilities have been added as part of the redevelopment initiative. These include a modern station building, a 12-metre-wide foot over bridge equipped with ramps, lifts and escalators, along with Divyangjan-friendly infrastructure.

Additional platform shelters, upgraded toilet blocks, improved passenger circulation areas and modern train information systems have also been introduced. Passenger-friendly signage and better wayfinding facilities have been incorporated to ensure smoother movement within the station premises.

Focus On Accessibility And Sustainability

Railway officials said the revamped station has been designed to offer improved accessibility and convenience for all categories of passengers. Better lighting systems, upgraded parking facilities and improved access points have been developed as part of the project.

The station is also being equipped with environmentally sustainable features and a contemporary architectural façade, aligning with the broader vision of transforming railway stations into modern transport hubs.

Inauguration Likely Soon

Officials revealed that the possibility of inaugurating the redeveloped station during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent visit to Hyderabad had been explored earlier. However, the launch could not take place due to unavoidable reasons.

With the remaining works nearing completion, railway authorities are now preparing to commission the upgraded facility shortly. Hitec City Railway Station is one of several stations in the Hyderabad region undergoing transformation under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.
