Retro Release Date: When Will Suriya-Starrer Hit The Screens?

The much-awaited release date for Suriya's upcoming movie Retro, helmed by Karthik Subbaraj, has been confirmed. The film will premiere on May 1, 2025, as revealed in the official poster, which bears the tagline, "The One from May One."

The teaser, which was released recently, showcases Suriya as a hot-headed character with a violent streak, attempting to mend his ways for the sake of his relationship with his girlfriend, played by Pooja Hegde.

Retro Team

Jointly produced by 2D Entertainment and Stone Bench Films, the film boasts an impressive ensemble cast, including Jayaram, Nasser, Prakash Raj, Sujith Shankar, Karunakaran, and others. Santhosh Narayanan has composed the music, with Shreyaas Krishna handling cinematography and Shafique Mohamed in charge of editing.

This film marks another collaboration for Karthik Subbaraj, known for his distinct storytelling, and Suriya, one of Tamil cinema's most versatile stars. The action sequences are choreographed by Kecha Khamphakdee, while the costume design is helmed by Praveen Raja.

Apart from Retro, Suriya has already commenced work on his 45th film, directed by RJ Balaji.

Kanguva In Oscars Race

Meanwhile, Suriya's previous venture, Kanguva, directed by Siva, has garnered a spot in the contenders' list for the 2025 Oscars. Despite its mixed reception at the box office, the film's selection highlights its artistic and technical achievements.

Fans are eagerly awaiting Retro as it promises a blend of gripping drama, high-octane action, and emotional depth, making it one of the most anticipated films of the year.
