'Refrain From Using Sex Workers' Challenging Lives': Kangana Tells Congress' Supriya Shrinate

Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut, who will be contesting from the Mandi Lok Sabha constituency, has responded to the objectionable remarks made against her by Congress National Spokesperson Supriya Shrinate and asked her to refrain from making such comments against women.

In a post on X, Ranaut highlighted the variety of works done by her in the last two decades.

Refrain From Using Sex Workers Challenging Lives Kangana Tells Congress Supriya Shrinate

Kangana Ranaut said, "Dear Supriya ji, In the last 20 years of my career as an artist I have played all kinds of women. From a naive girl in Queen to a seductive spy in Dhaakad, from a goddess in Manikarnika to a demon in Chandramukhi, from a prostitute in Rajjo to a revolutionary leader in Thalaivii.

We must free our daughters from the shackles of prejudices, we must rise above the curiosity about their body parts and above all we must refrain from using sex workers' challenging lives or circumstances as some kind of abuse or slur... every woman deserves her dignity..."

Supriya Shrinate, in a post which has been deleted now, wrote, "Kya bhav chal raha hai Mandi me koi batayega? (Will someone tell me what the rate system in Mandi is?)". She had also used a post of the actress in a revealing outfit.

Soon after her name was featured in the BJP's fifth list of candidates, the actress has been subjected to non-stop abuses.

She said, "Someone who had access to my meta accounts ( FB and Insta) posted an absolutely disgusting and objectionable post, which has been taken down.

Anyone who knows me will know I would never say that for a woman. However a parody account that I have just discovered misusing my name is being run on Twitter ( @Supriyaparody ) which started the whole mischief, and is being reported.

Meanwhile, Congress leader Vikramaditya Singh on Monday hailed Ranaut's contribution to Bollywood but raised doubts about whether she can dedicate time to politics.

"As far as Kangna Ranaut as the candidate of BJP is concerned, we respect her. She is a renowned actress and she has made our state proud in Bollywood. I have watched a few movies here and she has done good work.. This is a political battleground, and this constituency represents one-third of the state. The big question arises is fielding a person whose priorities are to act in films and has a relationship with Bollywood. Will she be able to give time to this one-third area of Himachal Pradesh?" ANI quoted him as saying.
