'Rathnam' Movie Review: What's Good, What's Bad; Find Out From Viewers' Words

After 'Thaamirabharani', and 'Poojai', director Hari of 'Singam' fame has teamed up with Vishal Krishna for 'Rathnam'. The movie has Priya Bhavani Shankar in the female lead.

Samuthirakani, Ramachandra Raju, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Yogi Babu, Mohan Raman, Vijayakumar, Tulasi and others in the supporting cast. The film has Devi Sri Prasad's music, TS Vijay's editing and M Sukumar's cinematography.

Like his earlier movies, Hari's latest movie too is an action packed commercial entertainer. The promos have indicated that it will be yet another fascinating story that revolves around a lawless thugs and an angry youngman.

Rathnam (played by Vishal) works for an MLA (portrayed by Samuthirakani) and their alliance is built on a unique set of morals. Their brand of rowdyism is aimed at serving the greater good of the people.

The MLA takes pride in the understanding between his henchmen and the police, believing it allows them to work together for the community's benefit. One fateful day, Rathnam encounters Mallika (played by Priya Bhavani Shankar), who is preparing to take her NEET exam. He soon learns that she is being targeted by a group of thugs.

Rathnam is known for his willingness to assist women in distress, but his decision to help Mallika is motivated by more than just his usual sense of duty. Mallika reveals that her family is embroiled in a conflict with the Rayudu brothers over a piece of land that rightfully belongs to them. As Rathnam delves deeper into the situation to uncover the truth, he finds himself entangled in a dangerous game. Who are the Rayudu brothers, and what lengths are they willing to go to in order to get their way?

A generic mass masala action drama that doesn't work as expected. Surprisingly, DSP's songs are the only soothening element in this otherwise loud, outdated bloodbath & sadly, Dir. Hari still needs a proper comeback film.
