The investigation into the Rashmika case has been ongoing since November, marking the initial instance followed by similar deepfake incidents involving Alia Bhatt, Kajol, and Sachin Tendulkar. Despite questioning numerous social media users who shared Rashmika's deepfake, the authorities had yet to identify the creator.

In a recent incident, a gaming app morphed a video of Sachin Tendulkar, initiating a false promotional campaign. The Mumbai Cyber Police filed an FIR against the app after Sachin clarified the misleading video on X, emphasizing the urgent need to report such instances. Sachin expressed concern over the widespread misuse of technology and called for vigilance and responsiveness from social media platforms. He also urged relevant government authorities to take swift action against misinformation.

Union Minister of State for IT, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, revealed that the government is actively working on implementing stricter regulations under the Information Technology Act to ensure platform compliance. Chandrasekhar highlighted the growing challenges posed by deepfakes and misinformation, emphasizing the government's commitment to monitoring the corrective measures taken by online platforms.
