Ranveer Allahbadia Case: YouTube Deletes Controversial Episode After Government Notice

YouTube has removed an episode of India's Got Latent in which podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia made controversial remarks that have sparked widespread criticism. According to sources, the platform took down the video after receiving a notice from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. Priyank Kanoongo, a member of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), had also called for its removal.

Allahbadia, popularly known as the BeerBiceps Guy, has a significant online following, with 4.5 million Instagram followers and 1.05 crore subscribers on YouTube. He appeared in an episode of India's Got Latent, a roast show hosted by comedian Samay Raina. A clip from the episode, which has gone viral, shows Allahbadia asking a contestant a highly inappropriate question.

The remark quickly drew backlash, with social media users criticising the rising availability of mature content to all age groups, including children. Many expressed concern over its potential impact on society.

Following the controversy, police cases have been filed against Allahbadia and others linked to the episode. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed that they have been charged under multiple sections, including those related to obscenity. Complaints have also been registered in Mumbai.

In response, Allahbadia has apologised, admitting that his comment was inappropriate. "My remark was not only wrong, but it was also not funny. Comedy is not my strength. I am here to apologise," he said in a video statement. He added that he would take greater responsibility for the content he shares, acknowledging that his podcast is watched by people of all ages.

NHRC member Priyank Kanoongo said the human rights panel had received a complaint regarding the matter. "This content is against the modesty of women and includes remarks that appear to be racist against certain ethnic groups in India. We have issued a notice to YouTube, asking them to remove such content and inform the police for further action," he stated.
