Raanjhanaa AI Ending Sparks Outrage from Dhanush As Fans React to New Climax

Actor and director Dhanush has expressed strong disapproval over the AI-generated alternate ending of his 2013 film Raanjhanaa, re-released in Tamil as Ambikapathy on August 1. The updated version features a happier climax created using Artificial Intelligence (AI), which Dhanush says was released despite his clear objections.

In a statement, Dhanush said,"The re-release of Raanjhanaa with an AI-altered climax has completely disturbed me. This alternate ending has stripped the film of its very soul, and the concerned parties went ahead with it despite my clear objection.
This is not the film I committed to 12 years ago. The use of AI to alter films or content is a deeply concerning precedent for both art and artists. It threatens the integrity of storytelling and the legacy of cinema. I sincerely hope that stricter regulations are put in place to prevent such practices in the future."

AI-Generated Ending Sparks Mixed Reactions

Despite Dhanush's discontent, fans are excited by the alternate climax. In the original version, Dhanush's character Kundan dies after being shot during a public rally. His tragic end and his silent sacrifice for love were central to the film's emotional impact.

However, in the new AI-generated version of Raanjhanaa, Kundan survives. A video circulating online shows him opening his eyes in a twist that fans never expected.

Fans React to Kundan's Survival

The alternate ending has taken social media by storm. While many fans celebrated the new ending, others shared concerns about how technology may rewrite cinematic history, potentially overriding a creator's original vision.
