Public Apology, ₹50 Lakh: Kala Hiran Producer Threatens Legal Action On Govind Namdev Over His Latest Remark

The controversy surrounding the upcoming film Kala Hiran, which is reportedly inspired by the 1998 blackbuck poaching case, has intensified after producer Amit Jani sent a legal notice to veteran actor Govind Namdev.

The move comes days after Namdev publicly distanced himself from the project, saying that the film's final version was very different from what he had originally agreed to be a part of.

According to the producer, the actor's public statements have damaged the image of the film and the production house. Amit Jani has now demanded a public apology and compensation, while also warning of further legal action if his demands are not met.

Producer Demands Apology and Compensation

Producer Amit Jani announced that a legal notice had been served to Govind Namdev following his recent comments about Kala Hiran. As per the notice, the actor has been asked to issue a public apology within seven days.

The producer has also sought Rs 50 lakh in damages, alleging that Namdev's statements have harmed the reputation of the film and those associated with its production.

Jani shared details of the legal notice on social media, stating that if the actor does not comply with the demands within the stipulated period, the production house will proceed with legal action.

Why Is Kala Hiran at the Centre of a Controversy?

The film has attracted significant attention because it is said to be inspired by the 1998 blackbuck poaching case, a legal matter that has long been associated with Bollywood superstar Salman Khan.

Although the makers have repeatedly maintained that the characters in the film are fictional, viewers drew comparisons after the release of the first-look teaser. The teaser introduced a character named Ayaan Khan, whose appearance, styling, and mannerisms led many on social media to speculate that the role was inspired by Salman Khan.

The filmmakers, however, have not used Salman Khan's name in any promotional material and continue to insist that the project does not directly portray any real-life individual.

Govind Namdev Distanced Himself From the Film

The controversy escalated after Govind Namdev, who appears in the teaser, publicly expressed his disappointment over the project.

The veteran actor stated that he was shocked after watching the promotional material and felt that the completed version of the film was significantly different from what had initially been narrated to him.

According to Namdev, he was never informed that a character resembling Salman Khan would be presented in the way shown in the teaser. He also claimed that he felt he had been kept in the dark about the project's actual direction.

The actor added that he would not knowingly agree to be associated with a film that could be interpreted as targeting or portraying Salman Khan in a controversial manner.

Makers Continue to Defend the Project

Despite the criticism and the growing legal dispute, the makers of Kala Hiran have stood by the film. They have repeatedly maintained that while the story may draw inspiration from the widely discussed 1998 blackbuck poaching case, the characters and events depicted in the movie are fictionalised.

According to the production team, the film should not be viewed as a direct representation of any real-life individual, and any similarities are coincidental or part of a broader fictional narrative.
