Priyanka Chopra Deepfake Video Goes Viral, Sparking Concerns

Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra has become the latest victim of a deepfake video. Unlike previous instances where celebrities' faces were superimposed onto controversial content, this video replaces Priyanka's voice and dialogues from an original interview with a fabricated brand endorsement.

In this manipulated clip, Priyanka Chopra seemingly discusses her annual earnings while endorsing a brand, raising renewed concerns about the implications of artificial intelligence.

Priyanka Chopra Deepfake Video Goes Viral, Sparking Concerns

Priyanka Chopra's deepfake joins a growing list of manipulated videos involving celebrities like Alia Bhatt, Kajol, Rashmika Mandanna, and Katrina Kaif.

Although the video remains playable, the account handle associated with it seems inactive, with no clickable links available.

This occurrence adds to a recent series of deepfake controversies, such as the one involving Alia Bhatt, where a video depicted a girl adorned in a blue floral outfit with Alia's face edited onto it, gesturing towards the camera.

Earlier, a manipulated video featuring Kajol surfaced online, originating from an original clip posted by influencer Rosie Breen on TikTok. Breen participated in the 'Get Ready With Me' trend, but the deepfake replaced her face with that of Kajol, portraying the 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai' actor changing clothes in the video.

These instances are part of an ongoing surge in concerns surrounding deepfake technology, amplified by the viral circulation of manipulated videos involving Rashmika Mandanna, Katrina Kaif, and others.

For the unversed, Deepfake videos are a form of synthetic media generated using AI and machine learning techniques, altering existing videos by superimposing or replacing faces and voices with those of other individuals. This technology has raised apprehensions due to its potential misuse, creating deceptive or fabricated content that challenges the authenticity and reliability of visual media.
