Preity Zinta, Bollywood Actor And PBKS Co-Owner, Donates Rs 1.10 Crore For Army Widows

Bollywood actor and co-owner of the IPL team Punjab Kings, Preity Zinta, has once again shown her commitment to social causes by making a significant contribution to the Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA). In a remarkable act of generosity, Zinta contributed ₹1.10 crore to support the widows and children of martyrs, reinforcing her dedication to the welfare of India's armed forces families. This charitable donation follows the nation's courageous Operation Sindoor, a response to the heartbreaking Pahalgam terror incident that occurred on April 22.

In an event filled with emotion and gratitude held in Jaipur, Zinta was in the company of esteemed military personnel and their families. The gathering saw the presence of the Army Commander of South Western Command and the Regional President of Shapta Shakti AWWA. It was here that Zinta articulated her profound respect and unwavering support for the armed forces. She underscored the immeasurable sacrifices made by soldiers and the paramount importance of standing by their families. "It is both an honour and a responsibility to provide assistance to the brave families of our armed forces. The sacrifices made by our soldiers can never truly be repaid. However, we can stand by their families and support them in moving forward," Zinta remarked, adding, "We are immensely proud of the Indian Armed Forces, and we stand in unwavering support of our nation and its brave defenders."

Zinta's contribution of ₹1.10 crore to AWWA underlines her personal connection and commitment to military families. Having grown up in an army family, Zinta possesses a unique understanding and appreciation for the challenges and sacrifices involved. Her contribution, part of her IPL team Punjab Kings' Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, aims to provide meaningful support to the widows and children of martyrs, ensuring they have the necessary resources to move forward with their lives.

Furthermore, Zinta has frequently expressed her pride in her 'fauji' roots and the strength of military families. In a poignant message shared with a fan on social media, she reflected on the resilience of these families, highlighting the immense sacrifices they endure. "I have seen the grit, the sweat, the blood, the tears up close. Sometimes I feel Fauji families are a little stronger than the Fauji's themselves! Have you seen those mothers that give their sons up for our country, those wives that will never see their husbands smile again and those kids that will never have their fathers or mothers guide them through life! This is their reality," she shared, emphasizing the profound impact of military service on families.

On the professional front, Zinta is preparing for a significant return to the big screen with the eagerly awaited film "Lahore 1947," where she stars alongside Sunny Deol. Produced by Aamir Khan, the movie is set against the backdrop of India's partition, marking an important comeback for the actress after a considerable break from acting.
