Popular Tamil Comedian Bonda Mani Dies At 60
Popular comedian Bonda Mani, beloved for his side-splitting performances in over 270 Tamil films, passed away on December 23, 2023, at the age of 60. Battling kidney-related ailments for some time, he breathed his last at a Chennai hospital.
Ailing for some time, he reportedly fainted at his residence in Pozhichalur, Chennai, marking a distressing turn in his health.

On that fateful night, Mani collapsed at his Pozhichalur home and was swiftly rushed to a government hospital in Chrompet. Despite efforts, the medical professionals declared his passing.
Mani's body is being kept at his residence in Pozhichalur for friends, family, and fans to pay their respects. The final rites are scheduled to take place at a crematorium in Chrompet around 5 PM. He leaves behind his wife Malathi, a son, and a daughter, mourning the loss of an irreplaceable presence in their lives.
Born Kedheeswaran in Sri Lanka's Mannar District, Bonda Mani, recognized for his comedic brilliance, graced over 270 Tamil films with his talent, predominantly portraying memorable comedic and supporting roles. His remarkable performances in films like "Winner" (2003), "Englishkaran" (2005), "Aaru" (2005), "Marudhamalai" (2007), and "Kannum Kannum" (2008) endeared him to audiences.
The journey to stardom was not without hardships; his stage name, Bonda Mani, reflected his early struggles, drawing inspiration from his diet of bondas during his initial years as an aspiring actor. The moniker also paid homage to his mentor, Goundamani.
A poignant aspect of Mani's life was his tragic familial history. In a heartbreaking incident during the Sri Lankan civil war, his mother and eight siblings lost their lives as their boat capsized due to a bomb deployed by the Sri Lankan Army. This incident marked a profound tragedy in Mani's life, influencing his journey significantly.
In a foray into politics, Bonda Mani joined the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) party in June 2016, alongside several Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) workers. His official entry into the party involved a personal meeting with the late Chief Minister, Jayalalithaa. His political stint added another dimension to his diverse life experiences.
Bonda Mani's demise marks the end of an era in the entertainment industry, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of laughter that will forever resonate with audiences.
