Original reports claiming the death of actress and model Poonam Pandey from cervical cancer have been confirmed as false. On February 3rd, 2024, Pandey herself addressed the confusion through a video on her Instagram account, stating she is very much alive.

The initial news of her passing, including statements from her co-star Shivam Sharma, were part of a staged event orchestrated by Pandey to raise awareness about cervical cancer. Speaking to Pinkvilla, Shivam Sharma had expressed shock and disbelief, saying, "We've spent a lot of time together, and all those memories are flashing in front of my eyes. It is quite unbelievable because the reason for death is cancer. I haven't heard of someone passing away because of cancer. There were no symptoms, and she never mentioned it."

Initial reports had indicated that Pandey had collapsed and died in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, on the night of February 1. However, it appears to be false information.

Karan Kundrra, the Lock Upp Jailer, also expressed shock, stating, "Oh my god! I have no idea about this. How did it happen? It is very sad and heartbreaking news." Munawar Faruqui mentioned, "Shocking! can't process the news. Poonam is a great human being. Sad. May she live long."
