PM Modi Hails Rajinikanth’s 50 Years In Cinema: “An Iconic Journey”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated superstar Rajinikanth on reaching the milestone of 50 years in the film industry. His message comes amid the ongoing success of Coolie, which has emerged as a box office blockbuster. Sharing his wishes on X (formerly Twitter), PM Modi hailed Thalaiva's remarkable cinematic journey.

Referring to Rajinikanth's career as "iconic," the Prime Minister appreciated the actor's versatility and the lasting impression his roles have left on audiences across generations. PM Modi tweeted, "Congratulations to Thiru Rajinikanth Ji on completing 50 glorious years in the world of cinema. His journey has been iconic, with his diverse roles having left a lasting impact on the minds of people across generations. Wishing him continued success and good health in the times to come."

On Thursday, several film personalities, including Kamal Haasan and Mammootty, also extended their wishes to Rajinikanth on completing five decades in cinema. Marking the occasion on India's 79th Independence Day, the Tamil superstar took to X to express his gratitude for the greetings. He posted a statement in Tamil while also wishing everyone a happy Independence Day.

Rajinikanth wrote, "Happy 79th Independence Day to all of you. My heartfelt thanks go to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin, Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, Leader of the Opposition Edappadi K Palaniswami, BJP leader Nainar Nagendiran, my friend Annamalai, madam Sasikala, Dhinakaran, madam Premalatha, and to other friends in politics who complimented me on my 50-year journey in the film industry."

He also thanked his colleagues in the film industry, including Kamal Haasan, Mohanlal, Mammootty, and Ilaiyaraaja, as well as his fans, stating, "I also express my heartfelt thanks to my fans, who are the Gods who make me live."

Rajinikanth, who began his acting career in the early 1970s, has featured in over 160 films across Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam cinema. Renowned for his magnetic screen presence and distinctive style, he enjoys a massive fan following both in India and around the world.
