‘Pati Patni Aur Woh Do’ Box Office Grows Strong On Opening Weekend: Can It Beat Kartik Aaryan’s Original?

After receiving mixed reactions from audiences, Pati Patni Aur Woh Do, released on 15th May, continue to thrive steadily at the box office over its opening weekend.

Starring Ayushmann Khurrana, Sara Ali Khan, Rakul Preet Singh, and Wamiqa Gabbi, the comedy film developed a strong growth on its first Sunday.

Box Office Collection On All Three Days Nationally

The film directed by Mudassar Aziz, opened with Rs 4 crore on Day 1 data provided bt Sacnilk. On Saturday, the film started to show improvement, by collecting Rs 5.75 crore. On Sunday (Day 3), the movie recorded its best single-day performance so far, earning Rs 7.75 crore net across 6,350 shows. If we compare it to Saturday, this collection marked a growth of over 34%.

In India, net collection now stands at Rs 17.50 crore and simultaneously, the domestic gross collection has reached approximately Rs 21 crore after Pati Patni Aur Who Do strong growth.

Global Collection Of The Film

The film also gained some support from overseas markets. If we talk about Sunday, it earned around Rs 1.25 crore internationally, taking the total overseas gross to Rs 3.25 crore. Therefore, the worldwide gross collection after three days has gone up to Rs 24.25 crore.

On comparing Patni Patni Aur Who Do gross collection with the original 2019 film that starred Kartik Aaryan, Bhumi Pednekar, and Ananya Panday, the new earning is still lagging behind.

The first film had collected Rs 9.10 crore on Day 1, continued by Rs 12.33 crore on Day 2 and Rs 14.51 crore on Day 3. In just a span of three days, the total had reached at Rs 35.94 crore, which is considerably higher than the current film's opening weekend record.

The situation-based comedy genre film appears to have benefited from the weekend audience rush. Yet, the film needs strong guaranteed support even during the weekdays, if it plans on maintaining its momentum at the box office and recover its budget successfully.

Supporting Cast

Keeping aside the lead actors, the film is also featuring a strong supporting cast that includes Vijay Raaz, Tigmanshu Dhulia, Ayesha Raza Mishra, and Deepika Amin in important roles.

In conclusion, the film has delivered a decent opening weekend for the team. Although in order to match the success of the original film, it is still a difficult challenge.
