Just days after news about his called-off wedding with cricketer Smriti Mandhana made headlines, Palash has responded legally to fresh claims of cheating and misconduct.
Marathi actor and producer Vidnyan Mane accused Palash of cheating him of ₹40 lakh and also made personal allegations related to Smriti Mandhana. Palash has strongly denied the claims and has now filed a ₹10 crore defamation case against Mane.
Palash Files Rs 10 Crore Defamation Case
On Saturday evening, Palash Muchhal took to Instagram to make his stand clear. He announced that his lawyer, Shreyansh Mithare, has sent a defamation notice worth ₹10 crore to Vidnyan Mane.
In his post, Palash said the accusations made against him were false, outrageous, and defamatory. He stated that the allegations were made with the intention of damaging his reputation and character, and that he would take all legal steps to protect himself.
What Are the Allegations?
According to reports, Vidnyan Mane approached the police in Maharashtra's Sangli district, claiming that Palash cheated him financially. Mane alleged that he met Palash in Sangli on December 5, 2023. During the meeting, Mane expressed interest in investing in films.
As per the complaint, Palash reportedly suggested that Mane invest in his upcoming project titled Nazaria as a producer. Mane was allegedly told that an investment of ₹25 lakh could fetch him a profit of ₹12 lakh once the film was released on OTT platforms. Palash also reportedly offered Mane a role in the film.
Mane claimed that he met Palash twice after that and eventually gave him a total of ₹40 lakh by March 2025. However, the project was allegedly never completed. When Mane asked for his money back, he claimed he received no response, which led him to approach the police.
Mane also accused Palash of being unfaithful to Smriti Mandhana before their wedding, which further added to the controversy.
Police Complaint, No FIR Yet
While Mane has submitted a complaint to the police, officials have confirmed that no First Information Report (FIR) has been registered in the matter so far. Authorities are yet to decide on further action.
Meanwhile, Palash has denied all allegations and chosen to respond through legal channels. With both sides standing firm, the matter is now likely to be decided through legal proceedings.
