Overwhelmed! Shah Rukh Khan Shares Video Message For Fans After Winning National Award After 33 Years

Actor Shah Rukh Khan expressed his joy after winning the National Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role for Atlee's 'Jawan' (2023). He shared this honour with Vikrant Massey, who won for Vidhu Vinod Chopra's '12th Fail'. This marks the first National Award win for both actors. Khan shared his gratitude on Instagram, thanking the jury and the Information and Broadcasting Ministry.

In a heartfelt video message, Khan said, "Needless to say overwhelmed with gratitude and humility. To be honoured with a national award is a moment that I will cherish for a lifetime. Thank you so much to the jury, the chairman and Information and Broadcasting Ministry and to everyone who thought I was worthy of this honour." He also thanked directors and writers from 2023, including Atlee Sir, for trusting him with 'Jawan'.

Khan acknowledged his team’s hard work, saying they endure his quirks and make him look better. He credited them for their perseverance and love, which made this award possible. He also expressed appreciation to his family for their unwavering support despite his cinema obsession taking him away from them.

The actor sees the National Award as more than an accolade; it's a reminder of his responsibility to portray truth on screen. "A National Award is not just an achievement. It's a reminder that what I do matters," he stated. He promised to use this recognition as motivation to continue striving in cinema.

Recognition at the National Awards

The ceremony on August 1, 2025, saw other notable wins too. Rani Mukerji received Best Actress in a Leading Role for 'Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway' (2023). 'Kathal: A Jackfruit Mystery' (2023) won Best Hindi Feature Film. Karan Johar's 'Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani' (2023) was awarded Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment.

'Hanu-Man' (2023) took home the award for Best Film in AVGC (Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming and Comic). 'Sam Bahadur' (2023) was recognised for promoting national, social, and environmental values. Sudipto Ghosh's 'The Kerala Story' won awards for Best Cinematography and Best Direction.

Upcoming Projects

Khan was last seen in Rajkumar Hirani's 'Dunki' (2023). His next project is Siddharth Anand's 'King', co-produced by Marflix Entertainment and Red Chillies Entertainment. The film features Suhana Khan, Abhay Verma, Jaideep Ahlawat, Abhishek Bachchan, Jackie Shroff among others. It is expected to release on Gandhi Jayanti 2026.

Khan concluded by thanking fans for their unwavering support through cheers and tears. "Thank you for all the cheers and all their tears... Keep the popcorn ready," he said, promising to return soon on screen despite being currently indisposed.
