'Operation Sindoor' Director Uttam Maheshwari Apologises For Timing Of Film Announcement Amid Backlash
Following the announcement of the film Operation Sindoor, director Uttam Maheshwari has issued a public apology in response to criticism over the timing of its reveal.
The film, which draws inspiration from India's recent military operation following the Pahalgam terror attack, was announced shortly after the events took place, prompting accusations of insensitivity towards an unfolding national crisis.

In a statement shared on social media, Maheshwari clarified that his intention had never been to offend or cause distress.
"I extend my heartfelt apologies for recently announcing a film inspired by the brave efforts of our Indian Armed Forces during Operation Sindoor. It was never my intention to hurt or provoke anyone's sentiments," he wrote.
Elaborating on his reasoning as a filmmaker, Maheshwari explained, "I was deeply moved by the courage, sacrifice and resilience shown by our soldiers and leadership, and merely wished to share that powerful story with the public."
He further stressed that the project stemmed from patriotism and reverence, not a desire for personal gain or publicity. "However, I fully recognise that the timing and sensitivity of the announcement may have caused discomfort or pain to some. For this, I am sincerely sorry," he added.
Describing the film as more than just a cinematic endeavour, Maheshwari said, "This is not merely a film - it embodies the collective emotion of the nation and reflects our image on the global stage."
He also expressed appreciation for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership and offered his condolences to the families of the fallen.
"Our thoughts and prayers remain with the families of the martyrs, as well as with the brave soldiers who continue to guard our borders tirelessly, ensuring a brighter tomorrow," his statement concluded.
The film is being produced by Nicky Vicky Bhagnani Films and The Content Engineer. The cast is yet to be announced.
