Obsession OTT Release: Where to Watch the Horror Film Streaming Online After $100 mn Box Office

The low-budget horror sensation Obsession, which has become one of the biggest surprise hits of 2026, may soon be available for streaming online. According to trade reports, the supernatural thriller is expected to debut on Premium Video on Demand (PVOD) on June 2, 2026, just weeks after its theatrical release in the United States and days after its arrival in Indian cinemas. While the makers have not officially confirmed the digital release plans, reports suggest that an uncensored version could first stream on Peacock before becoming available on Netflix at a later date.

The reported OTT release has generated considerable buzz among horror fans, especially as the film continues to perform strongly at the global box office. If the June 2 date materialises, Obsession would arrive online just 17 days after its US theatrical debut on May 15 and only a few days after its India release on May 29.

Obsession Emerges as a Global Horror Success

Made on a reported budget of around $1 million, Obsession has gone on to earn more than $100 million worldwide, making it one of the most successful independent horror films of the year.

The film first premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 5, 2025, where it generated strong word of mouth among critics and horror enthusiasts. Following its theatrical release in the United States, audience interest continued to grow, fuelled by social media discussions and positive reviews.

In India, the film has also attracted attention from horror fans. According to box office tracker Sacnilk, Obsession collected approximately Rs 0.68 crore net on its opening day, recording close to 30 per cent overall English occupancy across 654 shows. Evening screenings reportedly witnessed the strongest turnout.

What Is Obsession About?

The story revolves around Baron "Bear" Bailey, a young man secretly in love with his friend and co-worker Nikki Freeman. As Nikki struggles with grief following the death of her pet cat, Bear discovers a mystical object known as the One Wish Willow, which is said to grant a single wish when broken.

Driven by his feelings, Bear wishes that Nikki would love him more than anyone else. Initially, the wish appears successful as Nikki develops strong romantic feelings towards him. However, things soon take a dark turn.

What begins as affection gradually transforms into a dangerous obsession. Nikki's behaviour becomes increasingly erratic and violent, triggering a series of disturbing events that explore themes of love, control, manipulation and the consequences of tampering with human emotions.

Obsession stars Michael Johnston and Inde Navarrette in the lead roles. The supporting cast includes Andy Richter, Cooper Tomlinson, Megan Lawless and Haley Fitzgerald.

The film has been directed, written and edited by Curry Barker. The music has been composed by Rock Burwell, while cinematography has been handled by Taylor Clemons.
