Nemo Breaks The Trophy And 'The Code'; Switzerland Takes First Place At Eurovision 2024
Switzerland takes first place at Eurovision 2024, through its representative Nemo's song "The Code". The final performance, however, didn't go without a hitch as Nemo accidentally broke the trophy they were holding, as well as their thumb.
The breaking of the trophy, while surprising, didn't seem to cause much inconvenience to the latest winner of the Eurovision 2024 content. In a press conference, Nemo explains what exactly happened on stage to local media. "I didn't just break the code, I also broke the trophy," they said. "And I, uh, broke my thumb as well. But I got a new one so technically I have two now."

While Nemo only came fifth in the popularity vote, having only 226 points, they took first place in the votes by music professionals with a whopping 365 points! This put them in first place with 591 points, just ahead of the runner up Baby Lasagna from Croatia who had 547 points.
The win for Nemo also ensures that the next Eurovision, which will be held in 2025, will be held in Switzerland.
Nemo's song that won the contest, titled "The Code" was released on 29th February 2024, alongside the confirmation that they would be representing Switzerland for Eurovision 2024. The song itself revolves around the theme of finding one's own identity and having to break the code in order to do so.
