Mumbai: Bollywood Filmmaker Manish Gupta Allegedly Attacks His Driver With Knife, Booked

Filmmaker Manish Gupta has been booked for allegedly injuring his driver, Mohammad Lashkar, with a kitchen knife over a salary dispute. The incident reportedly occurred at Gupta's residence in the Sagar Sanjog building. The Versova Police Station has registered a case following a complaint by the driver. The altercation allegedly took place on Thursday night, resulting in injuries to Lashkar.

According to police information, Manish Gupta had initially dismissed his driver, Mohammad Lashkar, on May 30. However, he rehired him shortly after. During this period, tensions escalated between the two, leading to the alleged knife attack by Gupta. The driver claims that Rs 23,000 of his salary remains unpaid.

The filmmaker faces charges under sections 118(2), 115(2), and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS). These charges include voluntarily causing grievous hurt with a dangerous weapon and intentional insult to provoke breach of peace. Despite these serious allegations, Gupta has not been arrested yet.

Lashkar's lawyer, Ali Kaashif Khan Deshmukh, is pushing for Gupta's immediate arrest. Meanwhile, Manish Gupta's legal representative has denied all accusations against him. They have informed the police that the claims are unfounded and without merit.
