Max 1st Day Box Office Collection: Sudeep's Film Registers Good Opening In Bengaluru, Mysuru
Kiccha Sudeep's much-anticipated action-thriller Max hit theatres on Wednesday and made a flying start at the box office, despite facing stiff competition from Upendra's UI, which continues to perform strongly. Released during the Christmas festive week, the movie capitalized on the holiday spirit and received widespread appreciation for its gripping narrative and powerful performances.
Advance Booking Success Sets the Tone
The pre-release buzz for Max was reflected in its exceptional advance bookings. According to distributor Karthik Gowda, the movie sold over 1.08 lakh tickets before its release, generating an impressive Rs 3.38 crore from pre-sales alone. This strong start highlighted the high anticipation among fans for Kiccha Sudeep's latest venture, as per Sacnik.

Max Box Office Collection - Day 1
The film saw an overall occupancy of 79.90% on its opening day across Kannada-speaking regions, with a steady rise in audience turnout as the day progressed.
The morning shows began with a moderate occupancy of 62.34%, signalling a strong start. By the afternoon shows, the occupancy surged to 87.56%, with more viewers flocking to theatres.
The evening shows continued the momentum with a solid 89.80% occupancy, while the night shows recorded an equally impressive 89.00%.
City Wise Performance
- Bengaluru emerged as a major hub for the movie, achieving an occupancy of 83.00% across 612 shows, a remarkable feat in the competitive market.
- Mysuru outshone other cities with an exceptional 93.00% occupancy from 77 shows, demonstrating the film's strong appeal in the region.
- Smaller cities like Shivamogga also performed exceedingly well, recording a staggering 96.75% occupancy from 21 shows, while Hubballi posted an impressive 80.25% occupancy across 32 shows.
- Kalaburagi and Mangaluru saw moderate responses with occupancies of 50.25% and 39.50%, respectively.
Estimated Collections
Based on early trends, Max is estimated to have earned Rs 8.50 crore (net) on its opening day. While this is a predicted figure awaiting official confirmation, it sets the stage for a robust box office run in the coming days.
A Carnival at the Box Office
Max's success was not just about numbers but also about the enthusiasm it generated among moviegoers. Distributor Karthik Gowda expressed his delight, stating: "That satisfied feeling when you hear exhibitors saying they had to accommodate extra chairs & had to accommodate people by having them stand as they had traveled from long distances in North Karnataka - #MaxTheMovie is a carnage at the Box Office."
Facing Competition from UI
Although Max had a stellar debut, it faces tough competition from Upendra's UI, which continues to dominate the Karnataka box office with a net collection of ₹25.30 crore so far. However, with its fast-paced narrative and mass appeal, Max is poised to carve its own path to success.
The movie is jointly funded by Tamil producer Kalaipuli S Thanu and Kiccha Sudeep himself, ensuring high production values that have resonated well with audiences.
With its solid opening, Max has positioned itself as one of the strongest contenders for the best commercial entertainer in Kannada cinema this year. The next few days will be critical in determining whether it can sustain this momentum and emerge as a box office juggernaut. Fans alike are eager to see how Max performs in the face of stiff competition and high expectations.
