Manoj Mitra Death: Veteran Bengali Actor And Playwright Passes Away At 85 After Health Issues
Veteran Bengali actor and renowned theatre personality Manoj Mitra passed away due to age-related health issues. The 85-year-old was hospitalized with breathing difficulties and imbalances in sodium and potassium levels, among other health complications.
Mitra earned acclaim for his remarkable performances in films like Tapan Sinha's Banchharamer Bagan and appeared in Satyajit Ray's classics Ghare Baire and Ganashatru. His extensive film career also includes work with acclaimed directors such as Buddhadeb Dasgupta, Basu Chatterjee, Tarun Majumdar, Shakti Samanta, and Goutam Ghose.

A prolific playwright, Mitra wrote over 100 plays and received numerous awards, including the prestigious Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for Best Playwright in 1985.
