Manoj Bajpayee On Ranveer Singh’s Don 3 Controversy: Says Industry Wants Clarity

Amid the ongoing controversy surrounding Ranveer Singh, actor Manoj Bajpayee has shared his thoughts on the issue, asking for clarity and a quick resolution as uncertainty continues to grip the film industry.

On Tuesday, Bajpayee addressed the matter during the trailer launch of his upcoming film Governor. The actor spoke about the action taken by the Federation, which issued a Non-Cooperation Directive against actor Ranveer Singh, a move that is currently a major talking point in Bollywood. He also discussed the impact it could have on large-scale productions and the many professionals associated with them.

When Bajpayee was asked how actors can protect themselves in such disputes, he replied that most people within the industry are still trying to understand the situation through media coverage and online discussions rather than direct communication. He also mentioned the lack of detailed information regarding the conflict and said, "All the people in this industry are only reading it on social media. We don't have detailed information about it, but as colleagues and fellow fraternity members, we hope the matter is sorted out soon."

The controversy erupted after Ranveer Singh reportedly stepped away from Excel Entertainment's Don 3. Producers Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani reportedly claimed that nearly Rs 45 crore had already been spent on pre-production work.

As the disagreement continued to escalate, FWICE reportedly asked Ranveer Singh to appear before the organisation and present his side of the matter. However, after the actor allegedly failed to attend meetings, the federation issued a Non-Cooperation Directive against him.

FWICE Says "It's Not A Ban"

FWICE Chief Advisor Ashoke Pandit later clarified that the organisation had not officially banned Ranveer Singh from working in the industry. Explaining the federation's stance, Pandit said, "It's not a ban. We are not a court; we can't ban people. Non-cooperation means all our members who belong to 30 crafts will not work with him. It's my choice whether I want to work with him or not."

The situation has triggered larger conversations in Bollywood about contractual accountability, the influence of industry bodies, and the possible consequences such disputes can have on film schedules, investments, and workers across departments.
