'Leo' 1st Week Box Office Collection: Here's How Much Vijay's Film Collected In 7 Days In US

Vijay's 'Leo' has successfully completed its first-week run in theatres across the globe. The movie, which was released on October 19, has struck gold at the box office.

'Leo' First Week Collection In US

The Tamil film was released to a gigantic hype in the US with premieres on October 18. It saw the light of day in 638 locations and registered the second biggest opening for premiere shows in the US after Rajinikanth's 'Kabali'.

In 2017, 'Kabali' had minted $2,735,759 from its premiere shows in multiple languages. In case of 'Leo', Vijay's latest flick earned $1,863,631. However, this film shattered the premiere-day record of Rajini's recent flick 'Jailer', which had raked in $948,696.

The following day 'Leo' amassed $674,266 from 623 locations. On Friday, collections witnessed a slight jump as Vijay's movie made $693,500. The movie came out with flying colours on Saturday, earning $792,428.

Usually, the business of South Indian movies peaks on Saturdays and drops on Sundays. And the trend continues for 'Leo' as well as it raked in $419,145 on Sunday to end its first weekend at $44,42,970.

In the first weekend itself, 'Leo' has become the biggest hit in Vijay's career to date and the fifth biggest hit in North America among the Tamil movies.

Lokesh Kangaraj's film has started the week on a positive note by earning $123,668 from 443 locations. On Tuesday, the movie fared well by raking in $141,821 from 356 screens. The 7-day total collection of 'Leo' in North America stands at $4,708,459.

It means the movie has approximately collected Rs 39.14 crore (as per Indian rupees) from the US market alone.

Top 10 Biggest Tamil Hits In US

Among the Tamil movies, the first part of Mani Ratnam's magnum opus 'Ponniyin Selvan' holds the top position in the list of highest-grossing films in the US.

It had minted $6,700,372. Rajinikanth's 'Jailer' is in the second place by raking in $5,751,108. It is followed by y '2 Point 0' ($5,509,317.00) and 'Ponniyin Selvan 2' ($5,254,591.00).
